In the year 2023, Brazil recorded the highest volume of proven oil reserves since 2015, reaching 15.9 billion barrels, as per data released by ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels) in early April.
This number represents a 7% growth compared to the volume verified in 2022 and ensures the current level of national production for the next 13 years, according to statements from ANP.
Including probable reserves, the total volume reaches 22.8 billion barrels, equivalent to 18 years of current production, as reported by Folha de S. Paulo.
The main contributors to this increase were the fields with the highest production in the country, Tupi and Búzios, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, along with a new pre-salt field operated by the Norwegian company Equinor, called Raia Manta.
