The Caixa Econômica Federal has completed the distribution of profits linked to the Severance Indemnity Guarantee Fund for Employees (FGTS) to workers’ accounts.
The payments, which began on August 9th, were concluded on August 10th, anticipating the initially scheduled deadline of the 31st of the same month.

This anticipation surprised many beneficiaries who were following the payment schedule. How Did FGTS Payments Work in 2024?.
Caixa distributed R$ 15.2 billion across 218.6 million FGTS accounts. The amount allocated to each worker was proportional to the balance existing in the FGTS accounts on December 31, 2023.
This calculation is an important step to ensure the fair distribution of profits generated by the fund.To calculate the amount received, simply multiply the account balance on 12/31/2023 by the index 0.02693258, which was set annually by the FGTS Steering Council (CCFGTS).
For example, someone who had R$3,000 in the fund on 12/31/2023 received approximately R$80.80.Who Received the Distribution of FGTS Profits?.
The distribution of FGTS profits was received by workers with active accounts and balances on December 31, 2023.
This distribution reached various categories of workers, including:Workers with contracts governed by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT); Domestic workers; Rural workers.
Temporary workers; Intermittent workers; Casual workers;Seasonal agricultural workers (rural laborers who work only during the harvest season); Professional athletes.
It is worth mentioning that, in all cases, only accounts with balances on December 31, 2023 received the profits. If a worker started their activities in January of this year, for example, they did not have access to the 2024 distribution.
How to Verify the Payment? To check the credited amount, workers can use the “FGTS” application, available for download on Android and iOS smartphones.
Additionally, Caixa clients can access this information via Internet Banking. It is important to mention that the credited amount can only be withdrawn in situations provided for by Law 8,036/90, such as.
Termination without just cause of employment; Acquisition of a home; Retirement, among other situations. The received funds do not factor into the calculation base for the severance pay if the worker is dismissed without just cause, ensuring that the distribution of profits does not negatively impact their finances in termination situations.
With the anticipation of the distribution of FGTS profits, many workers can now better plan their finances, knowing that the resources are available sooner than expected.
This measure by Caixa brings security and transparency to Brazilian workers who rely on the FGTS as a financial reserve for various situations provided for by law.
